If you celebrate Christmas, what will you do this evening? If you don't, will you still do something festive or is it just another night?

I don't really celebrate, but I do enjoy listening to the holiday-themed classic radio comedies and dramas via WHFC 91.1 FM in Bel Air Maryland.

Here's the link to listen ).

If you had to give up either chocolate or your mobile phone forever, which would you sacrifice?

So long, mobile phone. Definitely!

Are there any classic holiday movies or TV shows that you look forward to watching year after year? What are your all-time favorites? Are there any you simply can't stand?

My most favorite Christmas films are: A Christmas Story and the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol with Alastair Sim. Also, It's A Wonderful Life and Bad Santa.

Was there a significant event in your life that helped define who you and caused you to re-evaluate your priorities?

Being born was a significant and defining event that certainly got my attention!

The re-evaluation of priorities remains an ongoing process. Having a cosmic "You Are Here" sign would be nice addition to the mix, but they're not often seen outside of malls.

As for any of it yielding a "new lease on life," since we're never aware of the length of the "lease," it tends to add a heightened sense of mystery and adventure to the enterprise.

I'm surprised more people aren't shouting, that 1960s cry: "Up against the wall, motherfucker!" Calgon, take me away!".

Do you long for snow during the winter holidays? Would you prefer to spend your holidays in the tropics or in a winter wonderland?

I grew up on the East coast and then spent nearly 20 years in the Midwest, so I've had my share of snow.

The news today is filled with video of the folks back east, totally socked-in with 10-to-20 inches of the white stuff. Meanwhile, I've been barefoot and in shorts all day, here in San Diego, where the high today was in the low 70s.

I miss the "notion" of a White Christmas, but definitely not the reality of it!

Since it's nearly the start of Winter and a night chill is in the air, I thought I'd whip up a big ol' pot of 16 Bean Soup.

• Baby Lima Beans
• Green Split Peas
• Lentils
• Navy Beans
• Great Northern Beans
• Large Lima Beans
• Blackeyed Peas
• Black Beans
• Light Kidney Beans
• Pink Beans
• Pinto Beans
• Small Red Beans
• Yellow Split Peas
• Green Whole Peas
• Garbanzo Beans
• Cranberry Beans

I added some extra #8s & #12s.

Later I'll toss in yellow rice and garlic/basil/oregano tomatoes, then serve it up with warm sourdough bread.

Truly, an Epicurean delight!
